Have you ever programmed your mindset for the day? As midterm approaches on Wednesday, it’s normal to place our priority for studies… Tuesday, I tried my tutorials, struggling through management accounting, continued by tutorial. I was so blessed to have lunch with Chee Mee, Joanne, and Gek Chien, as this routine repeats only once a week (thanks to the schedule, no common lunch time).
I received a surprise message, by Brian inviting the RCM team out for dinner. After class, I spend time in library with Nikita, recalling a walk in the night market, taking “tou fu fah”, sick of the preparation for midterm, and the clock struck 7. Nikita asked me, “Grace, do you have a best friend?”… I thought for a while, saying how do you define one? She added, best means “one and only”. Maybe I couldn’t give her an answer immediately, but this thought flashed through my mind, “Jesus’s my best friend”. Pack back for dinner, a bath, and pop… “Simon’s birthday…”
A short planning session, and went down to get a cake for this “dad” of mine. Recalling last year, it was him that initiated a surprise party for me in DSA, with the full force of SRCs. That’s indeed a meaningful one. I’ve tried my best, contact all housemates, with help from May, it’s gonna be nearly perfect, I guess…
8.45… Time to meet up Chloe, but a slight postpone, then the gathering continues… It was last January when we gathered for Japanese food in Kura. With David and Brian, the atmosphere’s gonna be filled with laughter… I’m so thankful for the laughter after such a tiring day. Even common topics could be inspired with words and humour… How I wish I had this gift… David asked me a question: “SRC 好玩吗?” I looked at William, both of our facial expression describes a question mark… In my heart, I’m still thankful for the opportunity to join this team, as it serves as another opportunity to work in teams, getting to know friends, and life will no longer be “all but books”. Great time with them, I could conclude… The aroma of Old Town coffee fills the air with the laughter, I guess we’re the only table which is so “expressive”…
1130… Time to get ready for Simon’s birthday… the cake’s in my room, then there comes a phone call for him in the living room, a little mess up with the matches, and there goes the lights, and a birthday song… He looks surprised, and photo taking session, of cause… creamy face…hehe…
A morning message, from dear senior Simon, “though it’s a small gathering, but to me, that’s the most beautiful thing I’ve had. U gals really surprised me, TQ!” Wed - Midterm… The worst part is that I don’t even understand the question… Meeting at 6, dinner, and the worst part is that I’ve forgotten that CF’s on at night… 8am class tomorrow…
